The municipality of Pulupandan is a fourth class municipality and is situated at the southern part of Negros Occidental, approximately 31.1 kilometers away from Bacolod City. It has a total land area of 2,301 hectares and is bounded by the Guimaras Strait in the north, south and west; Bago City in the northeast and the municipality of Valladolid in the southeast. It is composed of 20 barangays consisting of 90 sitio’s and puroks with a population of 31, 373 inhabitants, and has 17, 871 registered voters distributed in 28 clustered precincts. Most of the people depend on fishing as their main livelihood because of the coastal areas surrounding many of the barangays.
